MTV TV Night..

16 & Pregnant is a popular show on MTV. Within the last year I have gotten pretty addicted to this show and tune in to it every week. I am not sure if it is because I love kids and yearn to have some of my own or if I am truly interested in the struggles these teenagers face making adult decisions. Last night's episode was a "Where Are They Now?" catching us all up on what has occured since filming. One baby daddy is in jail because the baby mama put him there, a few of the couples got married and are truly trying to make their relationship work. I really liked the episode because you could truly see these girls growing up, facing their decisions head on, and doing everything they could to make life great for their children. I see some adults that don't even that the drive and determination that Mom at 16 has. Guess we can all take a lesson from that, right?

On a funnier note, MTV also has a new show called I Used To Be Fat which is kind of like a MTV-style one on one "Biggest Loser". Last night's episode featured Marci, an eighteen year old girl who has been homeschooled because of fear of teasing and is getting ready to go to college, and would prefer to go skinny. Marci's Mom doesn't make her eat with the family for meals, instead she takes her to the nearest drive-thru to get her meal. Um, hello? That's probably why you're FAT!! Ahem, I mean overweight. The bootcamp guy is this extremely skinny, ex-Army, nerdy looking dude with sort of a Texan accent and attitude. He basically tells Mom to quit being such a pushover and make her daughter eat healthy and fix her own food. Marci hates him because he's pushing her. She's standing outside in the heat, whining and crying about it being hot, throwing a fit. Yeah, it's hot, but didn't you sign up for this? How did you expect to lose weight? She had 89 days to change her life, she went from 250 to 160 and she did it. I have to say, I admire her for that. Despite the whining and crying, once she finally started to see that what she was doing worked, she shut her mouth and started actually listening. She even cooked her own healthy meals. It's amazing what a spoiled girl can accomplish every once in awhile.

Signing off for the day.. until we meet again.. ~Kacy
